A nanoelectronics-blood-based diagnostic biomarker for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)

Yay, they've got a test for all those "chronically fatigued" peoples out there.

Validation of impaired Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 3 ion channel activity in natural killer cells from ME/CFS patients

Then the calcium blockers may still be hitting on central pathology just not in a desirable way but that's still somewhat illuminating. Also there are many many different types of calcium channels and calcium channel blockers.

    Latest cortene email

The way this guy researches trying to tie absolutely everything back to the microbiome and ignoring anything contradictory is the very definition of confirmation bias.

Google's "medic update" to its search algorithm penalizes alternative health websites

When I compared a search for parkinson's treatment on both DuckDuckGo and Google they were pretty similar really, mostly mainstream medical websites and support organisations. CFS on the other hand shows a couple of alternative health websites missing on Google but otherwise much the same kind...

Google's "medic update" to its search algorithm penalizes alternative health websites

IMO you really shouldn't use quotes in searches unless you've already failed to get good results without them. Did you do a comparison without quotes as well? Edit: This also tells you little about the effects of the algorithm change because you have no before and after.

Immune System Fingerprint in POTS found (proconvertase furin)

I wonder if this is unique to POTS or if it will turn out to also be meaningful to people with ME but no POTS.

Reuters 13th March 2019: Article with Sharp, Wessely, Per Fink and co attack Dr Tuller and ME patients

Isn't amazing how articles like this attacking the ME patient community always get published on widely viewed news websites but anything defending us doesn't get anywhere near this kind of circulation.

Fundraising for Clinical Study for Potential ME/CFS Treatment

No, what I heard along the grapevine is that Cortene isn't looking as promising as they thought.

Fundraising for Clinical Study for Potential ME/CFS Treatment

Title is click bait. If they're crowd funding they're nowhere near FDA approval.

Sickness Behaviour in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. IDO + GTP-CH1 + BH4

I think pre-ME I had high norepinephrine and low dopmaine but during illness both are low. This is based mostly on symptoms but also when I had an OAT done the metabolites were always through the floor and I'm quite intolerant of anything that boosts or in any way tweaks serotonin.

Genetic Overlap among Autism Spectrum Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia

This is really interesting. My aunt has severe OCD, depression and fibromyalgia, all her 3 adult children suffer from depression, one is also a long term amphetamine addict and has been on anti-psychotics before for drug induced psychosis (not schizophrenia tho) and the daughter has 2 children...

    Zinc deficiency alters purinergic signaling

This is very interesting! My serum and plasma zinc levels consistently show in the normal range (although lower end of normal) but 24hr urinary excretion usually shows very low. "Alternative" doctors say this is diagnostic of deficiency but then conventional doctors dismiss it as meaningless...

    Nova Southeastern Klimas Update Letter

Your original post makes it seems like they are ignoring the pre-menopausal group entirely when they actually have plans to do fund raising for their study next year. When there is need to fund 3 different studies you can't just expect them to pull funding out of their butt for all 3...

Ocasio-Cortez says ‘death panels’ exist in private health insurance market

Yeah, because no private health insurance ever refused to cover treatment. Both socialised healthcare and privatised healthcare alike have something resembling "death panels" (name obviously chosen to strike fear into the reader) that perform an evidence based cost-benefit analysis of any...

Lack of flue / cold / other common disease

I've been on high doses of prednisone at multiple times during my 9 years of no colds and it didn't change anything. I'd be very surprised if our not getting colds had to do with our immune systems being very strong / vigilant against viruses. That just doesn't gel well with those that have...

Lack of flue / cold / other common disease

Yes, this is the same for me. I had a cold for the first time since 2009 earlier this year and my symptoms improved drastically while I had the cold (especially neuro symptoms). Before that I got multiple colds per year all usually resulting in bronchitis and taking up to 2 months each time to...

Anyone had a brain MRS scan?

I can't comment on @raghav's experience but when I spoke to my doctor about the MRS scan she said there was no injection or tracer it's just a scan and the request form didn't specify any particular chemical they were looking to measure (my doctor wanted to know about lactate) so I guess the...

Anyone had a brain MRS scan?

Just curious if anyone has had a brain MRS scan? I've had one ordered by a metabolic specialist and supposedly it can detect elevated lactate in the brain. I'll also be having a regular MRI at the same time.
