CFS Doctors Northern Ireland

Hi my names Robert and i am new to the forum, I'm from Northern Ireland and have been suffering slightly from CFS for 10 years but the past 2 years have become much worse, i am able to hold onto my job but it is a real strain but i don't want to give it up.

I was wondering if anyone on here found any decent CFS doctors in Northern Ireland, I've had bad experiences of doctors in the past being told its all in my head to its depression. But they are starting to take me seriously now. I had tried the optimum health clinic in london but found they only helped me to a level.

I would consider travelling further afield if there was a reasonably high rate of success as i feel like i am wasting the best part of my life as I'm only 28

Hi Robert

Sorry; I've been away from NI for 8 years now but as I recall there wasn't anyone there specialising in ME/CFS. There was a 'chronic fatigue' clinic in the City Hospital but all they did was screen you for other illnesses such as cancer or diabetes that can cause fatigue and if all turns out negative you are back to your GP with a 'CFS' diagnosis.

BTW my personal view is don't believe that there is such a thing as a 'ME/CFS specialist' - it's still a mystery.

Please try and hang on on work - it doesn't get any easier out of work.

Sorry I can't help more and good luck!

Dr William Weir visits NI to see patients and for a while he was working at a hospital there. Not sure what the arrangements are now so best to call his Harley St Clinic and ask if interested.

Dr Weir used to work at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He is in private practice now.

Dr William Weir, formerly Consultant in
Infectious Diseases at London's Royal Free Hospital,
Dr Weir will be setting up a private clinic for ME/CFS
patients at 10 Harley Street, London W1

The contact number for appointments will be 0207 467
8301,.

The other doctor to consider is Dr Enlander. He also visits Ireland but I am not sure what parts or when. He was born in Belfast and now lives in New York

The private appointment i had was really a lot of use he's just going to test for bowel inflammation and a test for mar fans syndrome to rule it out.

I will try a few more of the others suggested and see what information they can give me of were i can go to see them etc
