Overstressed

Hi all,
I have been diagnosed last week having a peptic ulcer in the antrum. The biopsy however, was negative for Helicobacter P. My family doctor thinks this ulcer is the result of tremendous emotional stress I had the last half year, a period where my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, from which she died within 6 months.

I thought a peptic ulcer -since the discovery of Helicobacter P.- is NOT caused by stress? Can anyone help? I'm very worried, because I think the peptic ulcer with my mother(positive for Helicobacter P.) lies at the root cause of her pancreatic cancer.

Thanks for your help,
Os(very worried).
