Ashok Gupta was forced to drop out of college with chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). Over time he was able to heal himself using neurolinguistic and meditative techniques. He developed a theory and published a paper asserting that ME/CFS was caused by an over-reactivation of the fear center of the brain – the amygdala. This amygdalar reactivation left the body in a chronic stress response causing it to over-respond to virtually every stimulus – leaving it in a state of chronic exhaustion.
In 2006 he opened a website and published a series of Amygdala Retraining video’s.
