M.A.D in May: the Twelve Days Campaign III: the May Awareness Campaigns Day

Posted by Cort Johnson

Phoenix Rising, of course, is not the only group proposing special May Advocacy actions. Both the WPI (ANIDA) and RESCIND are engaging in May Actions.

ANIDA – The WPI is engaged in a Month of May Awareness Campaign in it’s beautiful ANIDA website and it’s Facebook page to build a network of advocates dedicated to finding a cure for neuro-immune disorders such as myalgic encephalomyelitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and Gulf War Syndrome. Donations support basic clinical research at the WPI and outreach and advocacy efforts.

Register to become an advocate here. Check out their Calendar of Events here and share your letters, photo’s and video using this email address info@ANIDA.co You can donate to the WPI here

Thus far ANIDA has suggested:

  • Monday – Write your congressman or congresswoman. Visit Contact Your Legislator on our website under Act Now. This will help guide you in writing your letter.
  • Tuesday Cook 4 A Cure – Each Friday we will post on Facebook a delicious recipe that you cook Tuesday night in honor of May Awareness Month. We’re adding a twist … submit your our recipe with something new added that gives it your own personal flare. We will choose the recipes that you love best to add to our special cookbook next year.
  • Wednesday – Wear blue and ask your family and friends to help you support neuro-immune disease awareness and research.
  • Thursday – Pay It Forward – Help someone with NID by taking them groceries, taking them to a doctor’s appointment, bringing cooking them a dinner, whatever you can think of to show your support.

RESCIND – Tom Hennessey of RESCIND created International CFS Day 19 years ago and RESCIND is doing a “10 Letters Campaign” to get the government to pay attention to ME/CFS. They suggest that you write none other than Pres. Barack Obama and, with his promise to Bob Miller to look into NIH funding of chronic fatigue syndrome, this is a great time to do it. This a request for a letter not an email -a real letter.
President Obama’s address is

President of the United States of America,
Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Check out more on the letter and Tom and Jerry’s ideas about what to put in it – and more people to write to – at the website.
